Painting Fireplace Mantle and Fan Blades to Look Like Wood

I finished up a small job this week which was to paint a simple mantle to look like wood and then paint the cane fan blades from an overhead fan to match them.

In this first photo you can see the fireplace project finished.   A great design and  a huge improvement in the room

The area was under construction when I started.

This next picture is a shot of the mantle complete.

The matching fan blades.  They were quite the challenge too.  Being a very light tan color to start it was time consuming to get all 5 blades painted.  I had to really push the paint in between the individual reeds of cane or you would see a light streak.  Painting them made a really big difference however so worth the effort.
